We have been doing everything we can to tell you about Sam Humphries’ new book with Dalton Rose, Sacrifice (and have been since we first heard about it) about Aztecs fighting against Joy Division fans. We told you it was a fully self-published book, we gave you all the information you need to get yourself a copy, and I even personally urged you to do so.

Well, now I have a spot of cool news for Humphries/Rose/Sacrifice fans — the book’s pre-orders have completely sold out at a distribution level. The hot buzz for the title has led to more stores pre-ordering copies to sell to you, and now the amount of stores that will be selling has greatly risen from the initial list, leading to all copies of the book to be completely sold out. Now it looks like you may just have a greater chance to get a copy of the book, and we can assure you that you want a copy.

If you don’t want to go to a store, there are still copies of Sacrifice available for pre-order on TFAW, but we recommend checking the list of stores selling the book before pre-ordering, as you can not cancel orders at TFAW and there may be a retailer near you supporting the title. You’re probably going to want them to continue supporting the title, so make sure your local shop sells out.

Remember: Wait For Trading is not a viable option here, as the book may never see a collected release due to the independent publishing of it.

Mega congrats to Sam Humphries, Dalton Rose, Alejandro Arbona, Pete Toms, Troy Peteri, Dylan Todd and Phil Smith on the sell-out! For two more teaser-previews of the book, as well as the official press release from Sam Humphries himself, check behind the cut.

The first issue of SACRIFICE, the self-published, creator-owned fantasy/action comic book by Sam Humphries and Dalton Rose, has sold out its initial print run — two days before it is scheduled to go on sale!

The newest comic book from OUR LOVE IS REAL writer Sam Humphries and rising star Dalton Rose, SACRIFICE is a full-color, six-issue limited series about Hector, a native of the 21st century who is forced to survive in the brutal the Aztec Empire. The book features featuring color by Pete Toms, lettering by Troy Peteri, production by Phil Smith, art direction by Dylan Todd and is edited by Alejandro Arbona (CASANOVA, INVINCIBLE IRON MAN).

Excessive demand has led to retailers buying all available copies of the first issue before the official on-sale date, creating a sell out at the distributor level. Over 60 comic book stores across the US and Canada will have copies of SACRIFICE issue 1 available when it hits shelves this Wednesday, December 14.

TFAW.com, the official online partner of SACRIFICE, has limited quantities of SACRIFICE issue one available for pre-order on their website to readers around the world. “The Obsidian Edition” cover variant is restricted to 250 copies and available exclusively at TFAW.com.

SACRIFICE will also be available via same-day digital distribution starting Wednesday, December 14th on digital comic book platforms comiXology and Graphicly, whose users can downloaded and enjoy SACRIFICE immediately on the Web as well as iOS and Android devices.

“Aztecs vs. Joy Division fans…You haven’t even thought of such a thing. Humphries & Rose have. Listen,” said Kieron Gillen, writer of PHONOGRAM, UNCANNY X-MEN, and THOR.

“OUR LOVE IS REAL, Sam Humphries’ last self published comic, became a $100 comic in seconds, and went to five printings — and then the Image Comics edition. So be warned,” advised Rich Johnston of Bleeding Cool.

“SACRIFICE sees Humphries take a chance on self-publishing a more ambitious and personal narrative,” observed Comics Alliance.

“This is possibly the most beautiful self-published book I’ve ever seen,” said Vito Delsante, writer and manager of Jim Hanley’s Universe, New York’s premiere comic book store (and SACRIFICE participating retailer).

On Wednesday, December 14th, celebrated Southern California comic book retailer Collector’s Paradise will host the official SACRIFICE launch party at both of its Los Angeles-area locations. Writer Sam Humphries will be signing copies of SACRIFICE at the Canoga Park store from 12n-3p, and at the Pasadena store from 7p-10p. Collector’s Paradise is the exclusive home of “The Shadow Edition” cover variant of SACRIFICE issue one, limited to 200 copies.

SACRIFICE is supported by an extensive variant cover/retailer incentive campaign. In addition to the TFAW-exclusive Obsidian Edition and the Collector’s Paradise-exclusive Shadow Edition, SACRIFICE is available in the Jade Edition (limited to 100 copies) and the ultra-rare Warrior Edition (limited to 50 copies, signed and numbered) and the ultra-ultra-rare Emperor Edition (limited to 30 copies, signed and numbered). SACRIFICE is available in New England courtesy of an exclusive distribution agreement with the New England Retail Alliance, serving comic book stores in the American northeast.
