Archie’s horror line is something that would’ve seemed totally inconceivable even a year before it launched. “Afterlife with Archie” was the perfect combination of talent and project, coupled with hitting at a pop culture moment that seemed made for it. Ever since that initial success, Archie has been spinning off into various other horror series, including “The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina,” “Vampironica,” and “Jughead: The Hunger.”

Borrowing its name from a classic horror film, “Jughead: The Hunger” brings werewolves to Riverdale. The eighth issue of the ongoing, due out later this month, deals with that reality from an historical perspective: why did werewolves first come to Riverdale? We’re thrilled to share an exclusive first look at that issue, which hits stores on August 22nd.

Riverdale has been the focal point of the war between the werewolf Joneses and the werewolf hunter Coopers for centuries. Join us for this special issue as we examine how the conflict has affected not only these two warring families—but the very town of Riverdale itself.
