Yesterday we noticed Kevin Mellon mentioning a book he was releasing soon on Twitter, and we thought — “Hey. We like Kevin. Why don’t we know what this is? Why haven’t we posted about this on the website?” So we did what anyone interested in comics would/should do and reached out to Kevin directly to get the details on the book.

As described by Kevin himself, here is what “Suicide Sisters” is all about:

The simple hook is: “Two sisters, Dora and Cora, driving their motorcycles across Texas, trying to find the Devil so they can get their souls back.”

I created, wrote, and did all the art for it. Book design and lettering are by Crank! (Hack/Slash, Heart, Revival).

We pick up with the girls already on the road picking fights with demons and generally kicking ass all over the place. We get a bit of a glimpse at how and why they lost their souls in Issue 1, “Roadhouse Blues”, the first of three issues that make up Volume One: “Shoot The Devil”. All of the art for each issue is done. Issue 2 is colored and will be lettered shortly, and I’m currently coloring issue 3. I took the option of self-publishing Suicide Sisters as it’s an aspect of making comics that I hadn’t done yet, and felt it was the right way for this book to come out.

What started out as a simple concept for me to cut my teeth learning how to write a complete story has ballooned into much more. I’m hoping that if people enjoy Volume 1, I’ll be able to put out Volume 2.

Basically this comic is about 96 pages of these girls beating the crap out of demon bikers. Hope people enjoy it.

So there you have it. From the artist of “Lovestruck” and “American Muscle” comes a brand new 100% creator-owned piece of work for your consumption. As the world slowly transitions into a place where creators have a much larger stage upon which to produce and publish their book on their own time and of their own volition, Kevin Mellon is stepping up to the plate (in between his work on the upcoming season of Archer, of course) to do one himself.

So how about a preview to whet your appetite?

The first issue of “Suicide Sisters” will be on sale June 7-9 at Heroes Con for $5, with a digital release to follow.

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
