They announced the wedding before the issue came out and pissed off One Million Moms (that’s a lot of angry mothers!), and now, in promotion of the first mainstream superhero same-sex wedding/marriage (if not the first comic book straight-sex wedding/marriage), Marvel has released a preview of the upcoming “Astonishing X-Men” #51 featuring the wedding of Jean-Paul “Northstar” Beaubier and Kyle “Kyle” Jinadu.
It’ll be historic and may even sell-out on the day of release, what with Marvel giving the issue some massive PR. Today we’ve got a four-page preview of the issue, plus a Phil Noto variant that we haven’t put up on the site yet (which, admittedly, is more foreboding than it is welcoming given how every other Marvel marriage has worked out.)
Hey, wait, didn’t Kyle say no in “Astonishing X-Men” #50? And wasn’t there a premonition about physically Kyle fighting Northstar at the beginning of Liu’s run (which was also foreshadowed in #50 and is literally shown in the above preview)? Wonder how that’s all going to play out. Normally when someone headbutts you and tries to shoot you with a gun, your first inclination isn’t marriage.
