Marvel Gives First Looks For Their Next Wave [Preview]

Marvel is getting ready to launch their next wave of #1s, and with them come a third Point One book that features the highlight reel that Marvel is looking to push. With a few select stories from creative teams that won’t be found in the main books, these all are basically appetizers before Marvel’s main course with the launch of all the ongoings.

And today, Marvel has released first looks at all the books that will be debuting in “All-New Marvel NOW! Point One,” which is an annoying title to type out but looks like it’ll be a fun book to pick up.

So, we have “Avengers World” by Jonathan Hickman Nick Spencer and Stefano Caselli, although illustrated here Rags Morales:

“Black Widow” by Nate Edmondson and Phil Noto:

“All-New Invaders” by James Robinson and Steve Pugh:

“Loki” by Al Ewing and Lee Garbett:

“Ms. Marvel” by G. Willow Wilson and Adrian Alphona:

and “Silver Surfer” by Dan Slott and Mike Allred:

It’s a very eclectic mix, but I dare say there is something for everyone here. I’m honestly impressed by just about every outing: the “Loki” page gives a great peek at what the book will assumedly be like, the “Avengers World” page is epic and I really like what Noto does in the color for the “Black Widow” page. Plus, holy shit, look at that “Invaders” spread; how can you not be intrigued by that? And that Allred page? Allred is now stranger to poignant artwork (although we all know him best for his groovy stuff), but that’s just downright beautiful, as is Alphona’s Ms. Marvel in action.

These one-shot/Point One issues are pretty hit or miss, I guess, but this should effectively whet your appetite for all these oncoming books.

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
