Despite writing scores of issues of “The Punisher” and, in many ways, helping to define the shape of the character in the 21st Century, there’s always been a part of Frank Castle’s history that Garth Ennis hasn’t touched: his early days in Vietnam. In “Born,” with Darrick Robertson, we saw the final days Frank spent in Firebase Valley Forge. In “Fury: My War Gone By,” with Goran Parlov, we saw the height of Frank’s time as a marine sniper.

Now, in “Punisher: The Platoon,” Ennis and Parlov have reunited and joined with colourist Jordie Bellaire to explore Frank Castle’s first command. The first issue explored his first days as Lieutenant Castle as told by the surviving members of his platoon. In this exclusive preview of the second issue, which is due out on October 25, we see the continuation of that interview and how the wounds of the Vietnam war linger to this day.

By the time the Punisher was born in Vietnam, Frank Castle had already become a dark legend of the battlefield. Stories about him were told in whispers, if at all. Now the legendary Punisher team of Garth Ennis and Goran Parlov (PUNISHER MAX, FURY MAX) brings the first of those stories to light: the tale of Frank Castle’s first command, and his first kill. Don’t miss this epic new series!

Thanks to Marvel for the preview, and make sure to pick up the issue next week.
