Vita Ayala has been building a reputation as one of the most versatile and interesting emerging creators on the market. For those that might have encountered their work through books like “Xena: Warrior Princess” and “Livewire,” they may not be familiar with “Quarter Killer,” the comiXology Originals comic Ayala is co-writing with Danny Lore.

Here is what Ayala had to say about the series:

“’Quarter Killer’ started with the concept of Robin Hood in the hood, but cyberpunk and brown. When not working, QK tends to help solve problems around the hood, and help their friends keep out of trouble. The major themes in Quarter Killer are related to community, identity, and morality. ‘Quarter Killer’ is about being more than what people have decided you are, about choosing your family, and living by your own code.”

The third issue of this series drops next week, and we’ve got an exclusive first look.

Written by Vita Ayala and Danny Lore

Q.R.E.A.M. (QUARTERS RULE EVERYTHING AROUND ME)

QK and the krew take a 20 quarter job on Staaten Eylandt, a town of glitz, glamour, gambling and trouble that used to be a borough but is now an independent city-state and haven for people who don’t want their dealings on record.

They get more than what they bargained for when QK’s ex, Jackie “Jax” Porter, asks them for a personal favor.

Thanks to comiXology for the preview, and make sure to pick up the issue next week!
