Ahead of the theatrical release of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings next year, Gene Luen Yang, Dike Ruan, and Philip Tan have been fleshing out the character’s world in their new miniseries, with the introduction of his siblings, the Deadly Warriors, and by incorporating a dose of Chinese folklore in the jiangshi. The penultimate issue, out next week, will be no different, seeing Shang-Chi, Takeshi, and Esme encounter a zhenmushou while searching of their uncle. What’s a zhenmushou you ask? Well, you’ll get an idea in our exclusive preview of the book.

Shang-Chi is at death’s door! The Deadly Warrior is dying from a mortal wound, and it looks like there’s only one person who can save him… his father? But he’s dead… right?

Thanks to Marvel for the preview, and make sure to pick up the book – either safely in a store, or digitally – next week!
