Uh oh. Awkwaarrrdddd!!

In this weeks Batgirl #8, Batgirl will finally meet up and partner with Red Robin, the first in a short crossover between the two books. Red Robin, having recently returned home from his hunt for Bruce Wayne and brief allegiance with Ra’s, finds Stephanie Brown transformed from the resurrected Spoiler to the new Batgirl under the tutelage of Oracle, and anyone who read the final arc of Robin knows that they did not end on good terms. Throw in Drake’s penchant for being moody lately as well as Brown trying to move on with her life (even though the boys she goes out with get shot in the head…) can only mean one thing: this is going to be the most awkward team-up of all time.

The RED ROBIN crossover begins here! When Tim Drake returns to Gotham City, the last person he expects to find in the Batcave is Stephanie Brown. But when Ra’s al Ghul attacks on Batman’s closest allies, Red Robin and Batgirl will have to put the past aside to save Leslie Thompkins’s life. Continued in Red Robin #10!

Featuring art by Lee Garbett and Trevor Scott, DC has posted a quick preview of the first issue, and needless to say, they do not get along as well as Brown does with Damian Wayne. However, Bryan Q Miller has been doing a great job on the book, and with Chris Yost picking it up Red Robin #10, I imagine that the arc will be relatively enjoyable.

Update: I realized, I should point out that Red Robin #10 actually comes out on the same day. It’s a little bit odd for a crossover book to come out at the same time, but on that same note it’s actually kind of neat. So be on the look out for both books this week.
