It’s been quite some time since we last saw Mouse Guard, with the last issue out back in May of this year and earning a 9.0 from MC Associate Editor David Harper. As he wrote in the introduction of his review, “David Petersen is one of the many writer-artist hyphenates that has made it big in the past few years, and with good reason. Mouse Guard tells classic adventure fantasy stories with an excellent (and familiar) twist as well as a superb sense of character, while bringing some absolutely incredible art as well. ” All epic waits between issues aside (the series was originally solicited as a bi-monthly book), its certainly a title that is always worth the wait.

This week sees the return of one of our favorite books, and we couldn’t be more excited to share the love. That’s why today, just for you, we have a preview of the upcoming issue straight from Archaia. The solicit information is as follows:

The new volume of the Eisner Award-winning MOUSE GUARD series continues! On an unmapped island, Celanawe and Em discover the land of Ilder ruled by a ferret king. Shipwrecked and with no sign of their ship’s captain Conrad, they become the audience of Ilder’s imposing sovereign and hear of his hunger, his power and his fear–all while a mythic weapon dangles just out of reach preventing destiny from marching forward for the bloodline of Farrer, forger of the Black Axe.

Check after the cut for a seven-page preview of the upcoming issue, and be sure to look for it in your local shop today.

Matthew Meylikhov

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
