The Jinxworld titles provide a space for Brian Bendis to flex his different writing muscles, allowing genre exercises that may not fit within a traditional superhero comic – where Bendis spends most of his time – and also allow him to collaborate with some of this favorite artists. “The United States vs Murder, Inc” Michael Avon Oeming and Bendis go way back to “Powers,” but Oeming is one of the few Jinxworld creators to do some recent DC work, pre-Jixnworld. Oeming just wrapped up a run on “Cave Carson Has an Interstellar Eye,” the sequel to “Cave Carson Has a Cybernetic Eye,” both with writer Jon Rivera as part of ‘Young Animal.’
And while it hasn’t been a total reinvention of his work, Oeming’s time on “Cave Carson” has seemed to open up a more psychedelic approach to his art. While that was always an ingredient, he seems more willing to take a risk with going gonzo on a few pages – and, as seen in the fourth and fifth pages of the preview below, incorporating more textural elements, like the floating shadow balls and background shapes – than he had been before. We are thrilled to share an exclusive first look at “The United States vs Murder, Inc.” #4, which hits stores on December 5.
