“Wacky Raceland,” one of DC’s newly revamped Hanna-Barbera titles, has been a far darker book than many would have expected from the property. As someone who watched “Wacky Races” as a kid, Leonardo Manco’s art was especially shocking, as the Vertigo veteran’s work had little in common with the cartoon past.

We are happy to share an exclusive first look at the fifth issue of the series, which drops on October 19th.

Written by Dan Pontac
Illustrated by Leonardo Manco

A bad batch of mutated mushrooms sends our antiheroes on a white-knuckle trip down memory lane. Flashes of repressed recollections bubble to the surface of the Racers’ fevered brains, and these tantalizing tidbits suggest a single point of origin: a high-tech facility from hell known as the Butcher Shop! Against the advice of the omnipresent Announcer, the Racers roar towards the facility. But will they find answers…or death?

Thanks again to DC for the preview, and make sure to pick up the issue on Wednesday!
