Over some time now on this very site, you’ve perhaps heard myself or fellow writer David Harper talk quite frequently about an upcoming Image comic, The Strange Talent of Luther Strode. Today alone, we talked with both Justin Jordan and Tradd Moore about Luther Strode, making today the defacto “Luther Strode Day” here at Multiversity. And while we aren’t going to give you a full review of the issues that we’ve had the wonderful opportunity to read just quite yet (the book doesn’t come out until October), we would like to take one additional opportunity moment today to tell you: you are going to need Luther Strode in your comic collection.

Just as Kick-Ass offered up a timely satire of the superhero genre (before devolving into something closer resembling a parody), Luther Strode takes a dystopic view on the entire idea of super heroics in what can only be described as a Kirkman-esque romp of superhero-epic proportions with a slasher-flick vibe. Channeling the current spirit of Image itself, Luther Strode is both a familiar book and an entirely exciting and fresh book full of talent soon to be sought after by everyone under the sun, with a fierce and firey attitude-filled adventure that pleases on every level. It’s eye-grabbing, it’s quotable, it’s instantly memorable, and it’s an excessive amount of fun wrapped up in a wonderful sequential package as only comics can deliver. With Justin Jordan channeling his inner Joss Whedon and Tradd Moore channeling his inner Chris Burnham, it’s a combination of talent to keep on the lookout for – and while we certainly don’t want to oversell it, it’s safe to say that Luther Strode is going to be quite the big hit come October, assuredly above the output of the other companies (with no disrespect intended to anyone – this comic is literally just that good).

Or, to put it quite bluntly: you are going to need Luther Strode in your comic collection.

But don’t just take our word for it. Check behind the cut for a five page preview of the upcoming sure-to-be-sell-out-hit, and make sure to get pre-orders into your local shop/comic dealer of choice, because – seriously – you are going to need Luther Strode in your comic collection.

Matthew Meylikhov

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
