"Wolverine: The Best There Is" IS TOO DAMN VIOLENT

Marvel released an advance preview of Charlie Huston’s new title, Wolverine: The Best There Is. The book doesn’t come out until December, but apparently Marvel is so excited about this title that they’ve released it hella early! I’m not overly surprised – Huston is great. Huston definitively put Moon Knight on the map with his run on the title. While there is an over abundance of Wolverine books once more, it doesn’t hurt to have one written by Huston.

Of course, the best part about this preview is that it is too violent to show. Didn’t see that one coming! A Wolverine book that’s too violent? Huh. I don’t see a MAX on the title though, unlike Punisher and Deadpool have. So what exactly is too violent? I mean, we get to see this new villain Contagion who is apparently made up of maggots and has frightening pubic hair. What could be left to see?

Violent comics can be fun, and those of you who are familiar with the name Garth Ennis have probably seen your fair share of ultra-violent comics – from Punisher MAX, to Preacher, to the Boys. Heck, those of you that read Infinite Crisis saw Psycho Pirate get his face pushed out the back of his head by Black Adam. So the challenge is set, Marvel – what is too violent?

Marvel is pleased to present your first look at the most violent Wolverine ongoing series you’ll ever lay eyes upon, Wolverine: The Best There Is #1! The creative team of award-winning writer Charlie Huston and rising star artist Juan Jose Ryp introduce a bold new addition to Wolverine’s rogues gallery in the form of Contagion — a villain who gets more dangerous if he’s killed by Logan. But before Wolverine can find a permanent solution for his brand new foe, he must combat Contagion’s league of guards aptly named, the Unkillables. Featuring covers from a cavalcade of superstar artists like Bryan Hitch, Phil Jimenez, Gabriele Dell’Otto and Marko Djurdjevic, no Wolverine fan can miss this epic debut!

Can Wolverine be the best there is, if he won’t be able to kill? Find out this December in Wolverine: The Best There Is #1!
