Over the weekend, we asked you to name your favorite animated comic book TV show of 2023, and coming in at number one with an overwhelming 40.7 percent of the vote was My Adventures with Superman, the fabulous new anime-inspired take on the Man of Steel’s early years. Much as I loved the show, it was still a surprise that it received more love than higher-profile projects like Scott Pilgrim Takes Off, or Invincible.

Speaking of, Invincible came in second place with 11.1 percent of the vote: despite consisting of only five (admittedly hour-long) episodes, it’s clear the show’s long-awaited return lived up to the hype. Tied for second place was Pluto, the critically acclaimed miniseries based on Naoki Urasawa’s reimagining of “Astro Boy.” Our reviewer Elias Rosner praised the anime as a critique of war and hatred, and a reminder of how “love has the power to transform, to stop destruction, and be the guide for a better world.”

Scott Pilgrim, Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur, and Attack on Titan also got multiple votes this weekend. Thanks to everyone who voted; have a great new year, and stay tuned for our next Reader Poll on Friday!
