On Friday, we asked our readers which publisher did the best work of 2021. We included both larger and smaller publishers, trying to engage with readers of all stripes. While lots of smaller publishers got votes, the bigger companies were the focus of our readers, which saw a lot of agreement with our staff’s choices as well.
DC topped this poll, with 31% of the readers selecting it. While DC certainly has some misses and lackluster titles right now, there’s no catastrophic, widely regarded failure at the moment, the way that certain events that rhyme with “Gyros in Spices” were a few years ago.
Second place went to Image Comics which, despite a few down years, still puts out a lot of very respected and well regarded titles. Tied for third place were BOOM! Studios and Marvel, making our staff’s top four and our readers’ top four consist of the same books, but arranged in a different order.
