On Friday, we asked our readers which Phase 4 MCU film they were most excited to see. While the answer shouldn’t be surprising based on the comic-ness of the idea, there were a few interesting trends among the readers’ choices.
In first place was Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. This was a semi-obvious choice, in my opinion, as it seems like the place where we’re likely to get all sorts of teases and hints for the future of the MCU, including things like mutants. Plus, this is where WandaVision will connect to the larger MCU, and folks loved WandaVision. 24.2% selected DSitMoM (the hottest new acronym).
A more immediate trip through the multiverse is coming in Spider-Man: No Way Home, which hits theaters this December. This was tied, both with 18.2% with the ‘final’ Phase 4 film, a movie we know almost nothing about, in Fantastic Four. I wouldn’t be surprised if the Richards family showed up in No Way Home, actually. You heard it here first.
Rounding out the top selections was Thor: Love and Thunder with 16.7%. It is interesting, and potentially telling, that less than 8% of our readers are most anticipating Eternals, the next film to see release. You’d think that hype and recency bias would push that towards the top, but that’s not the case at all here.
