Merry Christmas to all who celebrate from Multiversity! So, over the holiday weekend, we asked you to name your favorite live-action comic book TV show of 2023, and The Boys spin-off Gen V was the clear winner, with 29.4 percent of the vote. I haven’t watched the show, or its predecessor, so I can’t say for sure why it won, but it’s clear you can’t get enough of The Boys and its satirical, violent universe, and that’s always refreshing when it comes to the superhero genre.
In second place with 23.5 percent was the first season of Netflix’s One Piece, which I haven’t watched either, but its faithful rendition of Eiichiro Oda’s long-running pirate manga has clearly won over longtime fans and newcomers alike. Tied for third with 11.8 percent each were Loki season two, and the South Korean Hulu/Disney+ series Moving, adapted by Kang Full from his webcomic of the same name; these two were easily the most lauded winners on our list, garnering five Critics’ Choice Awards nominations between them.
Thanks to everyone who voted, and be sure to check back on Friday for our next Reader Poll, when we’ll be closing out the year by asking you to name your favorite animated comic book shows of 2023. In the meantime, may you enjoy all the TV you plan to cram in over the holidays.
