On Friday, we asked our readers what their favorite long-running, single creative-vision ‘Rebirth’ book is. As a reminder, nine books fit that bill: “Deathstroke” by Christopher Priest, “Batman” by Tom King, “Red Hood: Outlaw/And the Outlaws” by Scott Lobdell, “Batman Beyond” by Dan Jurgens, “Justice League” by Scott Snyder and James Tynion IV, “Action Comics” by Dan Jurgens, “Detective Comics” by James Tynion IV, “Superman” by Peter Tomasi, and “The Flash” by Joshua Williamson.
Well, 30.4% of you felt that the recently wrapped up “Deathstroke” was the finest ‘Rebirth’ had to offer. The series, a personal favorite of mine, truly broke new ground and allowed Priest to tell a unique, complex, and satisfying story with a beginning, middle, and end. On that note, look out later this week for an in depth and fascinating interview with Priest about “Deathstroke.”
Coming second is, perhaps, the most polarizing book on the list, “Batman” by Tom King. 24.1% of our readers are into the gritty, clipped dialogue that has characterized King’s run. It isn’t my particular cup of tea, but sales would argue that I’m in the wrong here.
And, finishing third was “Justice League” by Scott Snyder and James Tynion IV. The book is the action movie of the DC Universe, and it’s not surprising to see fans respond so well to it.
