On Friday, we asked our readers what they felt the legacy of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. would be, now that it has wrapped up its seven-season run. The top spots split the vote, but I was pleasantly surprised how fondly our readers thought of the series.
26.7% of our readers both felt that the series was an integral part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and that it was a minor, though pleasant part of the MCU. I think it all depends on how you define “integral,” because very little from the series reflected up to the films, though the films reflected down to the series quite a bit.
22.2% thought that the series was a missed opportunity. It’s hard to tell by that answer if folks felt that the blame for that fell on the series’ showrunners for not doing enough with the property, or with the film folks for not integrating the two more. And, in third place, 15.6% of our readers felt that the series was fun, but didn’t really fit in with the MCU.
