On Friday, we asked you to vote for which of the new X-books, shepherded by Jonathan Hickman, you were most looking forward to when they begin to debut this autumn. We had a sinking suspicion that the flagship “X-Men” book would be tops, but we weren’t sure how tight the race would be.
This wasn’t even close: “X-Men” waltzed away with 53.6% of the vote, making it clear that Hickman’s vision is what everyone is most enthused by. His co-writing gig on “New Mutants” collected the second highest tally with 24.2%. “Excalibur” by Tini Howard and Marcus To came in a distant third with 9.8%, and the other three titles – “Marauders,” “Fallen Angels,” and “X-Force” – trailing far behind.
Personally, I think y’all are sleeping on “Marauders,” which has historically been a villainous group, but this time features a slew of heroic sorts. Plus, Gerry Duggan has been one of Marvel’s most impressive writers over the past five years or so, so having his talents on that book can only be a good thing.
The second issue of Hickman’s “X” line launches Wednesday with “Powers of X” (pronounced powers of ten) #1 dropping. We’ll surely revisit this X-line down the road – stay tuned!
