On Friday, we asked you what the best Bat-run of the 21st century was. We polled our staff, and put together a wide list that featured a lot of different Gotham characters. But, this site was named for a Grant Morrison work, and we were secretly hoping that y’all would be wise enough to recognize the masterwork that was his Bat-run. Well, you did, with 39.9% of you declaring this the best run.
Second place wasn’t a shock either, with “Batman” by Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo coming up behind Morrison’s run. This run was one of the more self-contained in this poll, and tells a relatively complete story, especially when paired with the currently running “Batman: Last Knight on Earth” epilogue. While a relatively distant second, 20.2% of the vote is nothing to sneeze at.
Coming in third was “Gotham Central” by Ed Brubaker, Greg Rucka, Michael Lark, and co. This is hardly a surprise either, as this is generally considered the best Bat-adjacent book of all time, and one that has only grown in esteem since Gotham decided to take not notes/lessons from it at all. This got 15.3% of the vote.
Regardless of who you voted for, check out those three runs for very different, but really impressive and fun stories. And come by on Friday for the next Reader Poll!
