On Friday, we asked you, after seeing our staff results, to vote for which publisher had the best 2019. Our staff had placed Image Comics at #1, Marvel at #2, DC at #3, BOOM! at #4, and Vault at #5. Our readers had the order slightly different, and swapped out one for another.
Image still took how the top prize, with an even one quarter of our voters choosing them. This year saw a lot of change at Image, with “Saga” taking a break, “The Wicked + The Divine,” “Paper Girls,” and “The Walking Dead” all ending. But clearly folks felt that they stuck the landing, as they still voted them as #1.
In a flip flop of our staff voting, DC came in second with 17.5% and Marvel in third with 15%. Marvel certainly had the flashier summer, with “House of X” and “Powers of X” setting a very high bar for anyone to follow, though it seems like DC had a more consistent year, with not as many high highs or low lows as Marvel.
And, tied for fourth were Vault and Dark Horse, which replaced our fourth pick of BOOM! Studios, with 10% of the vote. Stay tuned on Friday for our next Reader Poll!
