On Friday, we asked our readers what their favorite manga by Junji Ito is. Ito, one of the modern masters of horror, has done so many great works, that our list was longer than most of the polls we conduct, but we didn’t want to leave off something that was worthy. Despite the comprehensive list, three titles stood above the rest with our readers, and they are among Ito’s most famous works.

In first place came “Uzumaki,” which Chris Egan looked back at last week“. If you’ve never read “Uzumaki,” it is truly a unique and thrilling work. When I first encountered it in college, it was a a revelation for what horror comics could be. 30.8% of our readers voted for it.

“The Enigma of Amigara Fault,” a short story that originally appeared in the back of “Gyo,” came in second place with 26.9% of the vote, just ahead of the aforementioned ‘Gyo” with 11.5%. If you’re looking for something nice and creepy to get yourself in the Halloween spirit, you could do a lot worse than read one of these Ito classics this week.

Check back on Friday for our next Reader Poll!
