On Friday, we asked our readers what their favorite comic book film of 2023 was. There were probably more than you’d remembered, with 23 options, including six animated DC films. However, our readers didn’t need all those options, with only eight films getting a vote. I actually think the breakdown of votes is really fascinating, so let’s run it all down.

Tied for last place with 2.9% were a DC film and a Marvel film: Blue Beetle and The Marvels. As a bad movie goer this year, I’ve seen neither, but Blue Beetle doesn’t surprise me being at the bottom of the list. But, The Marvels had so much hype and excitement behind it.

Up next was a three-way tie: Shazam: Fury of the Gods, The Flash, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, all receiving 5.9% of the vote.

We’ve now arrived at the top three. 8.8% of you felt that Nimona was the best of the year. 26.5% of you felt that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 deserved that honorific. But 41.2% of you believed that Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse was tops and, despite not having seen them all, I’d probably agree with.

Check back on Friday for our next Reader Poll!
