On Friday, we asked our readers what ‘mature’ comic series they would like to see follow in the footsteps of “The Walking Dead” and see a spin-off aimed at younger readers. We listed a bunch a titles, but most of the votes were clustered in six titles. And, mercifully, none of our readers picked “Watchmen.” You all passed the test.

Coming in first with 18.2% of the vote was “Black Hammer.” Since the book tells such an expansive story, and with familiar tropes, a story aimed at younger readers would fit right in. Plus, since the Black Hammer universe is a DC pastiche, there is a long history of DC books aimed at all types of readers.

Tied for second were “Saga” and “Sweet Tooth,” each collecting 13.6% of the responses. While those books feature young characters, both are pretty dark and may be hard to communicate their essence while aging it down. Three series tied for third with 9.1%: “Astro City,” “Lazarus,” and “Fables.”

Check back on Friday for our next Reader Poll.
