On Friday, we asked our readers to vote for who, of the writers of comics, had the best professional 2022. Our staff selected Chip Zdarsky for that title, but our readers had a different idea. Not that Zdarsky was too far from the top, but our readers felt someone else deserved the top spot.
With 16% of the vote, Al Ewing took home our fan honors. The “X-Men: Red” writer came in #2 in our internal poll, and just edged out his closest competition. That competition was a fellow Marvel X-scribe, Kieron Gillen, who collected 12% of responses. Gillen also made our top writers list, slotting in at #4.
In third place came the staff’s favorite, with Chip Zdarsky grabbing 10%. It is interesting to see how much crossover there was in the fan’s list and the staff’s, even if the order was different.
