On Friday, we asked our readers to select their favorite Blue Beetle, in honor of the film’s release. That name has three distinct characters associated with it, and while we thought this was how the voting would go, the results were relatively decisive.
A full 50% of our readers voted Ted Kord, the second Blue Beetle, as their favorite. This iteration of the character, featured in “Justice League International,” murdered by Maxwell Lord, and resurrected because of comic book weirdness, is still around, but has taken a backseat to the second place vote getter. 42.9% voted for Jaime Reyes, introduced during “Infinite Crisis” and star of the new film. This was a close contest, and honestly, we felt it could’ve gone either way.
The original Blue Beetle, Dan Garrett (originally without the second T at the end of his name), got just 7.1% of the vote. But, to be fair, those stories all pre-date the character joining DC, and there haven’t been many stories with the character in the modern era.
Check back on Friday for our next Reader Poll!
