On Friday, after we revealed the publishers that our staff voted as the best in 2022, we asked our readers to do something similar: tell us who was publishing the best comics in 2022. The results were quite close, with 2.2 percentage points separating first from second and second from third. But, our readers have spoken.

Our readers believe that Dark Horse, the company that came in fourth in our internal polling, put out the best comics of the year, with 24.4% of the readers selecting the Oregon-based publisher. This has been a fun year for Dark Horse, with the Mignolaverse, as always, being the crown jewel of their publishing line. As “Black Hammer” evolves and books like “Minor Threats” continue to push their publishing line in fun new directions, it seems like a pretty wide open time at Dark Horse, in terms of what exactly the ‘house’ flavor is. That’s exciting.

Coming in second was our staff’s third favorite publisher of 2022, DC, with 22.2% of the vote. In third was Image, our top publisher, with 20% of the tally. Our #2 publisher, Marvel, was a distant fourth with 11.1%.

Check back on Friday for our next Reader Poll!
