On Friday, we asked our readers to vote on their favorite bounty hunter from the Star Wars universe. The results at the top were fierce and extremely close, but also ask some interesting questions about how people take in/remember/experience Star Wars.
In first place was the Mandalorian himself, Din Djarin, with 33.3% of the vote. This makes sense; The Mandalorian is a hugely popular show, the character is a well-drawn one, and he’s a bounty hunter with a heart of gold. Plus, he rides with Grogu. What’s not to like?
Here is where it gets interesting: Boba Fett came in second with 29.2%. Now, I’m a man of a certain age, so I remember thinking Boba Fett was really cool when I was a kid, but as an adult, the dude is in like 2 scenes, and in one of them gets clowned and eaten by a space vagina dentata. The Mandalorian did some cool stuff with him, but The Book of Boba Fett was sort of a waste, no? I’m shocked that almost 30% of the voters are still carrying water for Jango’s scion.
Now here’s more like it: tied for third with 8.3% are IG-88 and Cad Bane.
