On Friday, we asked our readers which Vertigo series, following in the footsteps of “Fables,” should be the next to return. Over 100 of our readers took the poll, and two series tied at the top, though many of these got votes. All four books that came in on top are interesting, as they aren’t as ‘gone’ as other series on the list, but clearly, our readers want these classic incarnations back.

“Hellblazer” and “Sandman Mystery Theatre” each focus on a character that currently exists, in some form, in the greater DC Universe. John Constantine, the Hellblazer, is a co-lead of “Justice League Dark,” currently residing as the backup in “Justice League.” The Sandman, not to be confused with Dream, the star of “The Sandman,” another Vertigo title, has been a Justice Society of America member since the start. Though neither Wesley Dodds nor Sandy Hawkins has been seen in a regular DC book in a long time, the Sandman character hasn’t exactly disappeared from DC. Each of these books got 16.8% of the vote.

Coming in second place with 14.9% was “Doom Patrol.” While there is a television series under that name, the team has only been sparingly used in recent years. They were the subject of a Young Animal series, as well as a sequel series, but they have not had a long running series in over a decade. In third place came “Shade, the Changing Man,” another series that got a faux-revival at Young Animal, but has also disappeared from their publishing plans. Shade got 9.9% of the vote.

Check back on Friday for our next poll!
