On Friday, we asked you which of the Harvey Award Nominees for ‘Book of the Year’ was most deserving of the award. Of the ten titles nominated, only six garnered votes from our readers, and three easily stood about above the rest. It was a closer call than I would’ve predicted, but one book emerged as the winner by the skin of its teeth.
“Superman’s Pal Jimmy Olsen” by Matt Fraction and Steve Lieber took the top spot with 33.3% of the vote. This series, which blended comedy, action, and multiversal madness, has been one of the more critically acclaimed DC runs of the past couple of years.
“Department of Truth” came in second place with 31.3%. It seems like our readers are far more comfortable with monthly comics rather than OGNs, as both of the top vote getters were collected floppies. Third place, however, was not. 22.9% went with “Monsters” by Barry Windsor-Smith, which is about as far from a monthly comic as you can get.
Check back on Friday for our next Reader Poll!
