On Friday, we asked our readers which of DC’s ‘Rebirth’-era and onward events was their favorite. There were quite a few options of varying quality, but surprisingly only one – “Event Leviathan” – got no votes whatsoever. Sorry, Bendis.
Coming in first place was “Dark Nights: Metal,” Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo’s over the top resetting of the Justice League for the next era with 37.9% of the vote. This is an unsurprising choice, as it felt both new and a culmination of what that pair had done on “Batman” in the past. It is a very fun, if silly, event in a sea of events that can sometimes be pretty dour.
In second was another event that couldn’t really be called dour, but was certainly strange and, perhaps, taboo in some weird way? “Doomsday Clock” garnered 17.2% of the vote, presumably because people like “Watchmen?” I don’t know, man.
But the third place book is undeniably dour, and that is “Heroes in Crisis.” I am shocked that this book got 13.8%, but I’ve done this long enough to never underestimate how much my personal taste differs from what our readers think.
Check back on Friday for the next poll!
