On Friday, we asked our readers what the most impactful news from NYCC 2022 was. In the piece, we mentioned how smaller publishers were almost entirely silent at the con, with Marvel and DC making up the bulk of the news. Our readers took it a step further; only Marvel and DC properties were voted on and, amazingly, only two Marvel announcements even got voted for in the poll. This was, apparently, a very DC weekend.
Coming in first place was the revamped Superman line of books, collecting one third of the vote, 33.3%. This included “Action Comics” getting two backups, a new “Superman” series from Joshua Williamson, and Jon Kent getting a miniseries after his ongoing wraps up.
In second place was news that wasn’t even all that advertised: Joe Quesada will be doing some “Batman” covers next year from DC and, presumably, more work in the future. 25.6& of our readers felt that Cup o’ Joe himself working for the Distinguished Competition was huge news, even if it is just some covers (for now).
Rounding out the top three was the DC Universe Infinite Ultra rollout, which added 5,000 news books to the subscription app, and will see new titles show up just one month after hitting bookshelves. 20.5% of y’all voted for this one.
Check back on Friday for our next poll!
