On Friday, we asked our readers to reflect on the legacy of Joe Quesada in his executive role at Marvel. To be totally honest, when I was putting this together, I expected a landslide in the positive camp. It’s pretty hard to argue with the growth of Marvel since Quesada came on board in 1998. But our readers continue to surprise me, and did not go, en masse, with the praise for Cup O’ Joe.
51.1% – more than half the surveyed readers – felt that Quesada’s legacy would be a mixed one. From a strictly quality of comics standpoint, I can understand this position. A lot of good, and a lot of crap, came out of Quesada’s time. But in terms of shepherding Marvel’s line to success, it is mind-boggling to see so many of our readers feeling that his tenure was mixed.
38.3% of the readers felt that Quesada’s run was positive, with 10.6% of people who really hate Bucky Barnes feeling that it was a negative time.
