On Friday, we asked our readers which ‘Dawn of DC’ title they were most excited about. In what is a good sign for fan enthusiasm about this event, all but three of the choices got at least one vote (sorry, “Steelworks,” “Superboy: The Man of Tomorrow,” and “Cyborg.” Note: two of those titles have no creative teams, so I can’t blame our readers for not being excited about them).
But the fans, like this writer, are most excited about Mark Waid and Dan Mora on “Shazam.” This is an incredibly inspired pairing of creator and character and, hopefully, a real ongoing series for once. 23.8% of our readers voted for the Big Red Cheese.
In second place with 14.3% is “Unstoppable Doom Patrol” from Dennis Culver and Chris Burnham. Burnham on a monthly DC book is cause for celebration, no matter how long it lasts (my bet is 2 four-issue arcs, separated by a two-month filler story).
Rounding out the top three is “Green Lantern: John Stewart” by Phillip Kennedy Johnson and an artist TBA with 11.9% of the vote. I can already see this being a very militaristic take on Stewart, which is the least interesting version of the character. I hope to be proven wrong!
Check back on Friday for the next Reader Poll!
