On Friday, we asked which of the 2022 comic book film slate was the one that our readers was the most excited to see. We do one of these polls each week, and it’s always interesting to see a clearer view of our readers’ interests and, almost as importantly, what they don’t care about.

I say that to say this: Sorry Sonic and Aquaman. No one voted for you.

That said, 37% of our readers are most stoked to see Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, Part One. This is not surprising, as the first film was both excellent and released a shocking 4 years ago in 2018. People are ready to jump back in.

Tied for second were March’s The Batman and July’s Thor: Love and Thunder, each with 16.7% percent. These two films are very different, but are among the most auteur-driven of all the superhero films. I can definitely see the appeal for both.

Third place went to Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness, garnering 13% of the vote.

Check back on Friday for our next poll!

This is not the first time that an older property has been relaunched, but this feels like one of the most carefully considered reboots of the modern TV era. There’s a lot of nostalgia behind the original X-Men: The […]
