On Friday, we asked our readers what their favorite live-action Batman film is. With the release of The Batman, it seemed like as good of a time as any to ask the question, and our readers responded with a truly surprising group of films…except for the first one.

Overwhelmingly, our readers went with Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight as their favorite Batman film, with 37.8% of the vote. This is the consensus answer for most folks, highlighted by Heath Ledger’s Academy Award-winning performance as the Joker. But when trying to predict the second and third choices, I absolutely muffed it. I’m a little shocked, and I love it.

In second place with 21.6% going to The Batman. While this is more in line with where I’d place the film, I’m shocked at our readers agreeing, though it may be chalked up to recency bias. Tied for third were two films I did not expect to see in the top 3: Batman Returns and Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice, each grabbing 10.8%. I applaud the free-thinking that led to this type of voting.

Check back on Friday for our next Reader Poll!
