On Friday, we asked our readers to pick their favorite work by the late Tim Sale, who left this world far too soon last week at the age of 66. We attempted, in our poll options, to reflect the most iconic and/or well respected works of Sale’s career, which includes iconic work at both DC and Marvel, but ultimately, we could’ve guessed the top spot before we even hit publish.

35.2% of our readers selected “Batman: The Long Halloween” as Sale’s finest work. The title is one of Sale’s many collaborations with Jeph Loeb, as was “Superman For All Seasons,” which took the second spot in our poll with 29.6% of the vote. A third Sale/Loeb book took the third spot as well, with “Spider-Man: Blue” racking up 11.1%.

We would, again, like to express our condolences to the friends, family, and friends of Tim Sale. If you’re unfamiliar with his work, any of these three titles would be a great place to start.
