On Friday, we asked our readers, now that the license is expiring, how they felt IDW did with both the Transformers and G.I. Joe licenses. The answers more or less aligned with what I feel the overall consensus is, though I was surprised at the relatively minor spread between the first and second place selections.

48.6% of our readers felt that the Transformers did quite well at IDW, while the G.I. Joe titles did not. If we are allowing recency bias to creep in, this appears especially true, as the height of IDW’s G.I. Joe work was at the end of the ’00s. Transformers also had a long, uninterrupted line of continuity which was the longest in the property’s history, so it is easy to point to that as a win for the Robots in Disguise.

35.1% of you felt that both franchises did well, and 10.8% felt that neither lived up to their potential there. Only 5.4% felt that the Joes got the best of this deal.

Check back on Friday for another poll!
