On Friday, we listed all the upcoming comic films that will be theatrically released in 2020. The list runs from sequels to new films, to spinoffs, and everything in between. However, there was almost no question about what film is the most anticipated among our readers.
54.4% of our readers listed Wonder Woman: 1984 as their most anticipated comics film of the year. This is hardly surprising; the first film was a success, and adding the fun, 80s setting is adding buzz to the already anticipated film. Plus, that trailer!
Coming in second was Black Widow, the flashback film that takes place before the events of Avengers: Endgame. David Harbour as Red Guardian and Florence Pugh as an alternate Black Widow are super fun bits of casting, plus Taskmaster is going to show up! What’s not to like?
The two biggest wildcards on the whole slate are The New Mutants and The Eternals, as both represent very different types of films and circumstances. The New Mutants is a horror film that has been through development hell, and The Eternals is a huge risk simply due to just how unlike the prior Marvel films it is. These two films tied for third place.
