On Friday, we asked our readers which comics or comics adjacent property they wanted to see get the Star Wars: Visions treatment, and get an anime anthology series. We put forth twenty suggestions, and while a lot of them got votes, four stood out from among the pack.
Coming in first place was the X-Men, who received 18.8% of the vote. The X-Men are a wise choice, as there are a variety of characters and settings that would make for fun, short stories. Imagine a Savageland action short or a ‘romance in the school’ style piece?
In second place came a title that shocked me, as I put it in thinking that I would be the only person voting for this, but 12.4% of our readers agreed with me. The King Features superhero crew of the Phantom, Flash Gordon, and Mandrake are some of the least-used and most fun characters in ‘classic’ comics, and I’m glad to see folks would want to see more animation from this crew, perhaps reminiscent of the 1980s Defenders of the Earth cartoon.
Tied for third place was both the Avengers and the Hellboy/B.P.R.D. crew, with 9.4% of the vote.
