On Friday, we asked our readers which of the announcements or teasers we got at Star Wars Celebration 2023 was the most exciting for them. What I love about doing these polls is that sometimes an option that was tossed in to pad out the list winds up in one of the top spots, which is what happened with one of our third place choices.
In first place is the trailer for Ahsoka, the August-debuting series that, in essence, is a live-action fifth season of Star Wars: Rebels. 27.3% voted for Ahsoka, which is sort of wild because we know exactly what the series was before Celebration. It just looks so good that people can’t stop talking about it.
Coming in second was the new Daisy Ridley-starring film set 15 years after The Rise of Skywalker, garnering 21.2%. Tied for third place, each getting 15.2% of the vote, were the Dave Filoni-directed ‘wrap up’ of the Disney+ TV world and – here is the wild one – the theatrical re-release of Return of the Jedi. I mean look, I am excited to watch it on the big screen again, but I am shocked that it beat out some of the other choices.
