On Friday, we asked our readers which Bat or Bat-adjacent character they would want to see get a spotlight in the new “Batman: Secret Origins” series. I am rarely blown away by these results, but I love how weird and wacky our readers got. Let’s get to it.

In 2018, we revamped our entire year end voting system because, somehow, “Batman/Elmer Fudd” won the ‘Best Single Issue‘ award in our Year in Review, a fact that seemed absolutely implausible. Well, maybe we weren’t so correct to doubt that, as 15.4% of our readers selected Elmer Fudd as the character they want a one-shot from. While that issue was a lot of fun, this is a bonkers result.

Tied for second place with 12.8% were two very different characters: Renee Montoya and David Zavimbe. Montoya, aka the new commissioner of Gotham City and also, you know, the Question, has a long history in Gotham, and absolutely deserves to see more stories in print. Zavibme was the first character to be called Batwing, and starred in the first 2/3 of the titular series from the New 52, until Luke Fox took over. Zavimbe is a character whose story got paused in the middle of that run, and I’d love to see his story picked back up.

Two characters tied with 10.3% in third place: Bat-Cow, the Grant Morrison created pet of Damian Wayne, and Cassandra Cain, the once (and present?) Batgirl.

Again, these are some wild choices, and I’m here for it.

Check back on Friday for our next Reader Poll!
