Reader Poll Results: “Giant Robot Hellboy” Towers Over All

On Friday, we asked you to name what you thought was the most exciting announcement from this year’s San Diego Comic-Con. At number one with 21.9 percent of the result was Mike Mignola and Duncan Fegredo’s miniseries “Giant Robot Hellboy,” which will bring the kaiju movie-inspired take on the character into Hellboy Universe canon this October. While the thought of a Giant Robot Hellboy is very exciting, the return of Fegredo on interior art must’ve sweetened the deal for many of you.

In second place with 18.8 percent was another series inspired by classic Japanese monster movies, DC’s seven-issue “Justice League vs. Godzilla vs. Kong.” Written by Brian Buccellato, with art by Christian Duce, the series will pit the DC Universe against the MonsterVerse’s take on the two Legendary giant monsters, just in time for the release of Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire next year. No doubt you’re all chomping at the bit to find out if Aquaman can control the King of the Monsters, and if Kong will visit Gorilla City.

In third place with 12.5 percent was the release of Invincible season two’s trailer — revealing the premiere date and the spectacular new cast (Peter Cullen! Tatiana Maslany! Chloe Bennet! Daveed Diggs! And so many more!) — as well as the special Invincible: Atom Eve. It’s been over two years since the first season of the show, and the lack of the usual Hollywood fanfare at this year’s con sent excitement over the series’ return into overdrive.

Thanks to everyone who voted, and be sure to check back on Friday for our next Reader Poll!
