On Friday, we asked our readers to weigh in on the newly released Justice League: The Snyder Cut, a four hour, bizarrely aspect ratio’d, re-edit of the 2017 Justice League theatrical cut, which was ultimately directed by Joss Whedon. The Snyder Cut began as a rumor that was widely denied, and has somehow turned into a rallying cry for a very specific area of fandom. And, unbelievably, here we are, with the film released on HBO Max, and with our readers overwhelmingly enjoying it.
42.8% of our voters said that they loved the Snyder Cut, with 34.2% liking it, and liking it more than the Whedon version. That’s a staggering majority of our readers liking the film which, I must say, comes as somewhat of a surprise for a few reasons.
What is really interesting, however, is that the next highest percantage, which was a tie, represented the two most negative views. Though not nearly as large as the positive contingent, 7.1% hated it, and 7.1% felt it was very bad, but not quite as bad as Whedon’s.
The Snyder Cut continues to be a bizarre piece of media that is made even more bizarre by the discourse surrounding it.
Check back on Friday for our next Reader Poll.
