Hi folks! Welcome back to our weekly recap of Archer’s fourth season, on the Multiversity Summer TV Binge 2022. This week’s episode is named “Un Chien Tangerine” and we could say that this was the “farts” episode of the season, because the main joke was the extensive use of them. Let’s dive right in!
1. A Moroccan mission
Lana and Archer wake up in a Moroccan hotel after what seemed to be an alcoholic bender for him, Lana argues that she didn’t have any sleep, but given that she didn’t even know everything what Archer did last night, he counter-argues with her because, she indeed did sleep somewhat.
They are in Morocco because they have to extract an agent in danger, but obviously, nothing is easy with them, when they are driving to the meeting spot they are being tailed, and although Archer manages to escape, he gives a concussion to Lana; so Archer is hungover and Lana might not be entirely in her five senses to survive the mission.
2. Agent Kazak
When they reach the meeting point, Archer kicks the door and they are immediately “attacked” by a giant English Mastiff who really don’t like guns, turns out that their mission is rescuing a Dog and Lana is immediately disappointed by the banality of their mission.
Meanwhile Archer loves it, he has a new friend named Kazak and he is a good boy, there’s a moment where Lana asks him why he didn’t enter to vet school and he really loves animals, but he blames it on his grades, this is yet another example of what Archer’s life could have been if he wasn’t and spy.
3. Lana quits
They try to flee from Morocco in a hovercraft, but there’s a roadblock and instead they will try to find another extraction point in the desert, but Archer keeps pushing Lana’s buttons and Kazak doesn’t help with his constant farting and vomiting, so Lana puts a gun on the poor dog, forcing Archer to stop the car.
After a while, of course he goes back to save Lana, who left without a gun, phone, GPS or water, in fact she is captured and Archer has to save her with a help of Kazak and a lot of bad choices, like firing his gun to where Lana is.
He finally stops the truck and a single enemy flees, when he is about to kill him, Archer spares his life, thinking that he might have many wives and children, a racist commentary for which he reprimands himself, again proving that he is aware of his standing in the world, and as I said last episode, evidence that he is maturing.
4. Pam wants the job
While Lana briefly quit the agency, back in the States, Pam goes to Malory’s office and asks to be a field agent, of course her boss immediately tries to dismiss her based on her appearance, probably only because of her weight, but Pam didn’t go unprepared.
She took and aced the aptitude test under “sterile” conditions, meaning naked and without cheating, she expected the next rebuttal from Malory: the test doesn’t reflect on her ability on the field, so she shows her a tape of her totally destroying Cyril, Krieger and Gillette.
Ultimately, Malory tells her that she is gonna think about it, seriously think about it; and Pam recalls a time where her parents promised her not to kill her pig for food and grease for soap, but they did it anyway, showing us the traumas of her life in the farm, and maybe earning a little empathy from Malory.
5. Peak “will-they-won’t-they”
When Lana left, Archer opens up with Kazak, and I mean, he really trusts a dog that he has just met more than he trusts any person in the world. And he realizes that he pushes Lana’s buttons (and enjoys it) because, after all, he hints that he might truly be in love with her.
And after he goes back to rescue her, there’s a moment where Archer puts on his knees and it seems like he is going to propose, but instead he reveals the microfilm that Kazak had, the reason for his rescue; but at that moment, Lana really believed that he was giving her a ring, implying that she might actually say yes to that.
Continued belowThis might be the most intense moment of their relationship so far, and it’s still going to grow… with moments of hate and moments of love, but so far, not a serious relationship between them.
Joke of the Week:
Lana: Son of a bitch!
(Kazak barks a lot)
Archer: Well, technically she’s right… Who’s a sonuvabitch? Are you a sonuvabitch?
(Kazak barks again)
Archer: Lana, look! He thinks he’s people!
And that’s it for this episode, overall, I just love when other people (or in this case, an animal) takes the exact attitude of Archer and just spend the day annoying everyone around.
