Hi folks! Welcome to our weekly recap of Masters of the Universe: Revelation. This week’s episode is named “Hope, for a Destination” and it is the penultimate of the show, the stakes couldn’t be higher for next week’s finale as Evil-Lyn prepares her move against reality itself, let’s dive right in.

1. Death of a God

Now that Lyn has the Power, she is exploring the universe, intoxicating herself with the addictiveness of all it, even though she criticized Skeletor for doing exactly that, she experienced a vision of a goat drinking water getting bit by a snake, and an eagle trying to save the mammal, which also died: she experienced the death of a goat god, apparently.

All this knowledge makes her way more dangerous than Skeletor ever was, she sees all this chaos with nihilism and catastrophism, there’s no reason to live, no reason to preserve life and therefore, it must end. The only hope is for our heroes to defeat her at the end.

2. Time to work together… and be nice guys!

While the team prepares for war, and Teela attempts to communicate with the whole world to help against EvilDark-Lyn, Adam is brewing a plan with his new best friend, Skeletor… writing that felt weird. Well, anyhow, the plan is the most “good guy” plan possible: ask Lyn nicely to stop her attempt to end the world.

Well, that is not the whole plan, of course Teela will infiltrate the castle, but that doesn’t stop Adam and Skeletor, who try to fight against a goddess, and they must have respect from Lyn for not dying at the first five minutes, but she wasn’t an easy opponent. It was a great fight wher Panthor tries to protect his owner, only to be turned into stone and Killed by Lyn, and Beast Man allowed her to turn him into a beast, to fight against Cringer.

In this fight, Lyn reveals her reason for doing all of this: Skeletor doesn’t want to die and is not truly willing to kill the Eternial Royals, so she wasted her life following him for nothing. So, if he will keep clinging to life like a leech, she will kill everything else in the Universe. Her plan is grimm, and she really seems focused on doing so, but at the end, it is frankly almost as pity as Skeletor’s reasonings, she is doing all of this as retaliation against an asshole.

3. Breaking into Grayskull

Meanwhile, as Adam and Skeletor fight against Lyn, Andra and Teela go into the depths of castle Grayskull, and they have a plan, they want to reach the Sorceress’ magic lake to properly send a magic message. The encounter a bunch of D-list villains and have cheesy back and forths with them.

They eventually are helped by Duncan the Man-at-Arms, who escaped his prison with the Orlax’s goo. He and Teela talk to each other and Duncan has to be a dad to her, listening at Teela’s worries, and encouraging her, because he did listen to her when she communicated with the world. Her daughter is extraordinary and now is the time to be even more than that.

4. A nice Mother-Daughter time

Then, Teela arrives to the room of the Sorceress, she emerges from the lake as a being of pure energy/magic, and they have a moment to be mom and daughter for the first time.

The Sorceress reveals for the first time what have been teased earlier, that Teela might be able to become the next Sorceress, but it is not as easy as some fanboys think, she is not a “Mary-Sue,” or her powers don’t appear to “make her look stronger than He-Man.”

The reasoning behind this is well grounded (for a cartoon based on a toy line, I mean) and it is not an easy “coronation,” in other to become a Sorceress, Teela needs to give away her life, she will be bound to the castle Grayskull and let her friends behind to make a new life. Will she be able to sacrifice all this that she has been slowly reconstructing? We’ll have to wait and see

5. Eternia is ready to Fight

Continued below

Just as everyone in Eternia shows up to fight against Evil-Lyn, they question her, “who would wanna be her your side, after you killed their heaven?”

And it seems like they have a good point, but there’s exactly one guy that is happy with the end of the world: Scare-Glow, the king of Subternia, and he and his army of dead™ will join the fight on Lyn’s side.

And that’s it for today, overall, an episode with a lot to say about paternity and maternity and how they affect us and -sometimes- help us grow. What did you think of this episode?
