Hi folks! Welcome back to our weekly recap of The Flash. After last week’s election night skip, we returned with a new episode named “All Doll’d Up” and it was both creepy and entertaining. Let’s dive right in!

1. Iris & Barry

The main theme of this episode was the relationship between the couple, we see how Barry tries time and again to have an enjoyable time with Iris, and she keeps feeling down because of Nora.

It was cute to see them going on a mission to learn about this week’s villain and dance, at the end of their adventure Iris throws herself off a building…

2. Ragdoll

If you didn’t see the episode, don’t worry, I’m not talking about suicide, Barry was thrown from the roof while meta-handcuffed by the really, and I mean, really creepy Ragdoll.

This week, there was not much of a story for the foe, he was written to reflect a parallel to the relationship between mother and child, a bad guy trying to punish people, taking their most valuables.

But it doesn’t mean it was a boring character, maybe we didn’t have a “big stakes” action scene, but Ragdoll was really creepy, thanks to his actor, contortionist Troy James and his horrible… can you say clown mask?

This kind of episode are great because they showcase some ingenious ways of presenting problems for our heroes without the need of a big final fight, and having a contortionist doing almost all practical flexes is an entertaining solution to the sometimes-limited CGI-budget.

3. Khione

Caitlin’s quest for finding her dad nears its end in this episode, they find an arsoned lab where it seems that Mr. Snow made some experimentation focused on cold.

All season they have been teasing that, not only did Killer Frost existed before the Particle Accelerator explosion, but Caitlin’s father tried to deal with her daughter’s powers. Also, it seems that he named Killer Frost “Khione”, like the Greek goddess of snow.

It seems that finally next week we will meet him, and the episode is called “The Icicle Cometh”, like DC’s minor villain Icicle…could Caitlin’s powers be hereditary?

4. Cisco’s Struggle

Ramone is back after an episode absent, he is still struggling with the wounds in his hands, during this episode he tried to use his abilities to hell find clues on the investigation, but vibing hurts, to the point that he can die.

He feels useless without his powers, but Caitlin makes him realize that his powers are not what matters, but his wit instead, that comfort gives him the confidence to reactivate DeVoe’s satellites, because Team Flash is nothing with those ex-machina’s.

5. Jesse L. Martin’s absence

While Cecile was telling Nora stories of Iris, they name-dropped Papa Joe… Did you notice that he went absent this whole episode? Two weeks ago, I was going to tell you that it was a little concerning to see Jesse L. Martin sitting in almost all his scenes, but I did not want to speculate, and I left it there.

Well, turns out that the next day, TV Line reported that the actor is going to take a leave of absence due to a back injury during the off-season. It’s not clear when is he going to come back, but we hope that he recovers successfully, his charisma a very important part of the show.

And that’s it for today, I enjoyed a lot this “monster of the week” episode and its focus on the character’s relationships What did you think of it? Leave your comments below and join us next week for our take on episode 506, “The Icicle Cometh”.
