Hi folks! Welcome back to our weekly recap of The Flash. This is the last episode of the “Armageddon” event, and it was really intense, everything happened really fast, but in a good way! Let’s dive right in.

1. Mia Queen is still on a mission

When Thawne appeared on the police precinct, the first one to arrive wasn’t Flash, but Mia Queen, the Green Arrow from the future, daughter of Ollie and Felicity. She is still looking for her brother, after two years, which is accurate also, because we last saw their story almost two years ago in “Green Arrow and the Canaries.”

She is clearly affected by the search, she is adopting the “blood for blood” philosophy of the early appearances of Oliver as The Arrow, she is really angry, and Iris talks to her, and tries to convince Mia to go and visit her mother, because there are few other people that have the resources Felicity has.

At the end of the episode Mia learns the ways of Team Flash, and is convinced to keep looking for her brother, thanks to a new lead that Iris got her. This might be a tease for a possible new series in the Arrowverse focusing on her, but at the time it seems unlikely because The CW passed on the planned spin-off at the beginning of the year. Well, nobody said that they couldn’t test the waters.

2. Thawne wants to live

All that fuzz that was teased in last episode’s cliffhanger and Thawne’s first scene in this one gave us something unexpected: apparently Reverse Flash’s plan doesn’t involve trying to kill Barry Allen this time.

Turns out he is dying now that the timeline is correcting itself, and he has hours before he disappears, so, he asks Barry and Team Flash for help, after all, they are heroes and wouldn’t let him die, right?

Well, it turns out that choosing to save him is not an easy decision, and Thawne also doesn’t help, teasing Caitlin, telling Barry that if he is saved he will continue trying to kill the Flash, and revealing to our hero the reason why he hates him: just when Thawne was about to reveal himself to the world in his present, Barry appeared and saved the day on an unrelated case, and he accidently “stole” Thawne’s moment. That’s the reason, a truly pity reason to eternally hate someone.

3. The guy who is named “Despero” is a bad guy

Meanwhile, Despero is still being an annoyance to Team Flash, he is convinced that Barry is “a bad hero” just because he’s considering saving Thawne’s life. And he has a final confrontation with Barry, on a CGI fight that used old animation, because Barry’s suit wasn’t updated here, to be honest, that fight really looked like a videogame fight, but I do like that cheesiness of the show.

And speaking of things being ridiculous, Barry saves the day redirecting Despero’s energy with the help of his new boots, designed by Chester, yes, they aren’t just a fashion choice, they also are a good tool against villains.

4. Darhk is Bahck

Let’s take a brief moment to talk about Damien Darhk’s brief arc in these two episodes, he appeared in this present, but he knows he is going to die, he’s just waiting for it, and when the reality is restored, he is still there, and Joe talks to him, and they discover that he still has unfinished businesses.

He has a short interaction with his daughter Nora and has just the time to tell her that he loves her, then he dies again. It was an emotional scene where the villain had a moment of humanity, even the bad guy deserves to die accompanied by his loved ones.

5. The relationships that each character has with Reverse Flash

As I said before, Thawne is not making it easy for Team Flash, for the first time, Caitlin vows to let him die, and Barry and Iris agree with her, on the other side Chester and Allegra want to help him, not because of who he is, but because they care who their team members are: heroes.

Joe overhears and really reprimands Iris and Barry, as usual, in just one scene and after being absent on the first four episodes, Jesse L. Martin steals the show. Well, Joe asks for a way to save Thawne and Barry did come up with a plan: use Black Lighting’s technique to depower Flash on Thawne.

But Thawne is not happy at all, Barry took his speed, and his speed was his life, so, we’ll surely see a new retaliation from the Flash’s archnemesis.

6. At the end of the episode

All of this happened on the first 30 minutes of the show, and the last ten minutes involved the team having a party, where Chester and Allegra almost start to flirt with each other, but Barry interrupts. And the episode ended with Impulse and XS inserting themselves in a picture in the police station, teasing their return. I really liked that, for the first time (that I can remember), the cliffhanger of the episode didn’t involve a new menace, instead the episode ended on a funny teaser, maybe for the first time.

And that’s it for this episode, overall, a new addition to the Flash and Reverse Flash’s eternal fight, but one that ended quite differently: on a positive note. What did you think of this episode? Leave your comments below and join us next year for the return of Bart and Nora Allen; but remember, the new episodes are coming on Wednesday now, and there will be a big hiatus, so, see you on (presumably) Thursday, March 10th, for episode 8×06.
